Remarks:
Bruising from criticism by a Fort Macleod preacher over the fireworks scene, the producers decided to use a different public relations approach here in Rockyford. They told anyone who asked that the film contained “undertones which might be offensive to some.” They then teamed up with the Rockyford Lions Club and turned the rodeo shoot into a fundraiser, which netted $6,000 CDN.

Most of Rockyford’s 318 citizens were there for a very long day that spilled into the evening and then into the next day. Over and over, as the production crew established different camera angles and perspectives, the local extras rose to the challenges of their assignments, which included mime conversations among themselves, waving, and cheering at stunt doubles.
