I'm 73 years old, i'll never make Canada to see these wonderful sights. i would like to thank you. your site locations and the postings from other people has enabled me to understand the movie a whole lot better. i'll always remember BBM. r.i.p. heath ledger and thanks to everybody. I was able to get to Campsite 2, but even then had to break the rules and lift a road gate. Don't know when all these roads will open back up. Disappointed I wasn't able to see the "I did once" lake and others, but maybe next time! Posted: Tuesday 15 January 2013 16:24 PST Name: David Comment: Hi, I'm from the UK and was desperate to visit Alberta ever since I found out where Brokeback was filmed. I've seen the film six times at the cinema and dreamed of visiting the sites, especially the beauty of the “I did once” lake. However, I had no idea of how I could after only finding rough locations on the internet, so I can't tell you how ecstatic I was when I discovered this truly amazing website just a week or so before my holiday back in early Sept 2012. Having no driving licence I realised it was going to be really difficult but I knew I had to visit the two most popular sites. How?? By hitching! From Canmore I walked for about an hour out of town and got a lift (eventually) right up to Goat Creek picnic area. Then from there I walked and found Goat Creek itself / Campsite 2 BUT only with the help of the fantastically detailed directions / tips on this website. Note the pole bridge was no longer there across the creek [...] I was able to take the same photo for each scene thanks to this site. Next day it had to be the fans' favourite: Upper Kananaskis Lake (“I did once”). No public transport possible, so I had to hitch 40 km from close to Kananaskis Delta Lodge. Highway 40 has very little traffic but after just 10-15 mins I got a lift all the way from a lovely retired couple who hadn't even planned on going there! Was absolutely amazing. I spent an unforgettable 4 hrs there. [We enjoy seeing photos people have taken of BBM locations. The best way to send photos to us is to put them into a .zip file and send it to us as an email attachment.] | |
